Game Play Settings
Your Game Play Settings control when the game waits for you to play spells and abilities and when it doesn't.

To open the Game Play Settings window, click the Settings icon on the Magic Online screen. Then scroll right to the Game Play tab.
You can also get to the Game Settings window by right-clicking in the in-play area during a game.

Note: Game Play Settings settings are stored on your computer. If multiple players use the same computer, they should check their Game Play Settings each time they play Magic Online.

Set Stops
The Set Stops options tell the Magic Online game to wait for you to play spells and abilities during certain phases and steps. If a stop isn't set for a phase or step, its icon appears dimmed. Click on an icon to set or remove a stop.

The game will always wait for you to play a spell or ability during a phase or step with a stop set for it. The game will also wait if something happens you can respond to, even if you don't have a stop set.

Your Set Stops settings are crucial to Magic Online game play. You should set additional stops if you think you'll want to play a spell or ability during a step or phase that doesn't have a default stop. The more stops you set, though, the more often you'll have to click OK during a game. You can change your stops during a game by right-clicking in the play area and choosing Game Settings. You can also set and remove stops by clicking on a phase or step icon on the Duel screen.

See the Phases of a Turn section of help for more information about the phases and steps of a turn.

Auto Yield
The Auto Yield options determine if the Magic Online game continues without pausing when certain things happen. If an option is selected, the game won't wait for you to play spells and abilities when the action it describes occurs.

Yield to normal card draw
While this check box is selected, your normal card draw will happen automatically. If this check box is cleared, your normal card draw will trigger at the beginning of your draw step and go on the stack. Then you'll be able to play spells and abilities. When your normal card draw resolves, you'll draw the card.

Yield to all combat damage
While this check box is selected, you won't have the chance to play spells and abilities while combat damage is on the stack. If this check box is cleared, you will.

Yield to combat damage that doesn't affect you or your creatures
While this check box is selected, you won't have the chance to play spells and abilities while combat damage is on the stack unless you or one or more of your creatures have been assigned damage. If this check box is cleared, you will.

Skip the rest of the combat phase if there are no attacking creatures
While this check box is selected, the game will move directly to the postcombat main phase if no creatures are declared as attackers or if all attacking creatures have been removed from combat. If this check box is cleared and no creatures are declared as attackers, the game will move to the end of combat step. If this check box is cleared and all attacking creatures have been removed from combat, the game will still wait at all steps in the combat phase that have stops set.

You can only announce a spell or activated ability if you have the mana in your mana pool to pay for it
While this check box is selected, you won't be able to select a spell or ability to play unless you have the mana in your mana pool to pay for it (spells in your hand and permanents with activated abilities have green names when you have the mana in your mana pool to pay their costs). If this check box is cleared, you can play a spell or ability and then add the mana to your mana pool to pay for it.

Yield to your madness triggered abilities
While this check box is selected, you won’t have the chance to play spells and abilities while the triggered ability of your madness card is on the stack. If this check box is cleared, you will.

Yield to your opponents' madness triggered abilities
While this check box is selected, you won’t have the chance to play spells and abilities while the triggered ability of an opponents’ madness card is on the stack. While this check box is cleared, you will. In either case, you’ll get to play spells and abilities while a spell played with madness is on the stack.

Always choose to remove discarded madness cards from the game
While this check box is selected, your madness cards will automatically be removed from the game when you discard them instead of being put into your graveyard. If this check box is cleared, you’ll have to choose each time you discard a madness card whether or not you want to remove it from the game.

Removing a madness card from the game when you discard it is the first step of playing a card's madness ability, so if you usually play madness cards when you discard them, you should select this check box. If you decide not to play a card with madness that you remove from the game, it will be put into your graveyard.
